Thermador belongs to BSH, the group behind Bosch and Gaggenau, and that shared ownership shapes every repair. A Thermador dishwasher shares its platform and its fault codes with Bosch. The Pro ranges, Star-burner cooktops, wall ovens and Freedom refrigerator columns, on the other hand, are Thermador’s own designs with their own parts, and they are the reason people pay for the badge.

The questions people search for most are about Thermador refrigerators, then dishwashers, ranges, cooktops and ovens, and this page answers them in that order. DP Appliance Repair serves homes from Greenville to Spartanburg and Boiling Springs. The technician explains what failed and what it takes to fix it, you get the price before any work starts, and the repair is covered by a 90-day parts-and-labor warranty.

Thermador refrigerator and freezer column repair

Thermador’s Freedom columns and built-in bottom-freezer refrigerators are fitted into the cabinetry, often with custom panels. That is why the first step of any repair is getting the unit out safely, and why an unfamiliar technician can do more harm than good. In a column pair, the refrigerator and the freezer each run their own cooling system, so one column warming up tells you nothing about the other.

The symptoms that bring Thermador refrigeration in are a fresh-food section that creeps above 40°F, frost building on the back wall of the freezer, water pooling under the crisper drawers, and an ice maker that slows down or stops.

  • Check the grille first. Built-in units breathe through a grille at the top or the base, and dust on the condenser behind it makes the compressor work much harder. Vacuum the grille and keep it clear.
  • Frost on the rear wall or water under the drawers points to the defrost system or a blocked drain line, not the compressor.
  • Ice maker problems usually start with the water filter, the supply line or a frozen fill tube. Replace an overdue filter before anything else.
  • A compressor that runs nonstop with no cooling, or never starts at all, is a sealed-system question. Look at your warranty paperwork and purchase date before deciding, because sealed-system coverage often runs longer than the general warranty.

Thermador dishwasher repair: E15, E22, E24 and E25

Because Thermador dishwashers run on the BSH platform, the codes on the display are the ones Bosch owners know. Most of them concern water, either where it should drain or where it should not be, and a couple can be cleared at home.

  • E22: the filter is clogged. Twist out the cylindrical filter in the bottom of the tub, rinse it under the tap and lock it back in place.
  • E24 or E25: the water is not draining. E24 usually means a kinked or blocked drain hose or a clogged sink connection; E25 points at the drain pump, where something small has often been caught. Clear the hose and the pump area, then try again. If the code returns, the pump needs attention.
  • E15: water has reached the base pan and tripped the leak protection. Turn the power off and look for the source. A single overflow from too much detergent can dry out on its own; a code that keeps returning means a real leak inside the cabinet.
  • No code, poor results: check the spray arms for blocked holes, clean the filter and top up the rinse aid. If glasses still come out filmy, the heater or the circulation pump may not be doing its job.

Thermador range, stove and cooktop repair

Thermador Pro Grand and Pro Harmony ranges and the gas rangetops use the Star burner, and the most common complaint is spark trouble: an igniter that keeps clicking after the burner has lit, or one that clicks without lighting. More often than not the cause is moisture or a boil-over. Let the burner dry completely, clean the ports with a soft brush and make sure the star-shaped cap is seated flat. Clicking that continues on a dry, clean burner points to a spark switch or the spark module.

A burner that lights and then goes out on the lowest setting, weak or yellow flames, or a smell of gas all need a technician. If you smell gas, turn the burner off, open a window and call your gas utility first. Induction and electric cooktops are a different job: a zone that will not heat, a cooktop that shows a fault and shuts down, or a control that stops responding usually comes down to the electronics under the glass rather than the glass itself.

Thermador oven and wall oven repair

Thermador wall ovens and range ovens come in for four things: the oven is slow to heat or runs far off the set temperature, the convection fan is noisy or stopped, the door stays locked after a self-clean, or the display shows a fault and the oven will not start. Before booking, check the temperature with a separate oven thermometer after 20 minutes of preheating. That single reading tells the technician whether to look at the sensor and controls or at the heating elements and gas igniter.

Repair or replace: a Thermador range or wall oven is built to be serviced. Igniters, sensors, elements, fans, door hinges and control boards are all replaceable parts. Replacement usually makes sense only when a control board is no longer available for your model, and the diagnosis will tell you if that is the situation.

Thermador under warranty or out of warranty?

A common question is who should handle a Thermador repair. Thermador handles warranty repairs through its own service channel. If your appliance is still under the Thermador warranty, call Thermador first so the repair is covered. Once the warranty has ended, we repair Thermador appliances in your home, with parts sourced for your specific model number and the price given before any work starts.

Thermador repair: frequently asked questions

Do you service Thermador appliances in Boiling Springs and Spartanburg?

Yes. We service Thermador refrigerators, ranges, cooktops, ovens and dishwashers in Boiling Springs, Spartanburg, Inman, Greer, Greenville and the surrounding towns. Phone (864) 547-6666; a morning call often means a technician the same day.

Should I call Thermador or you for a repair?

If the appliance is still under the Thermador warranty, call Thermador so the repair is covered. After the warranty ends, we come to your home in the Upstate, diagnose the problem and give you the price before starting, with parts matched to your model.

My Thermador dishwasher shows E24. Can I fix it myself?

Often, yes. E24 usually means the water cannot drain because the drain hose or sink connection is kinked or blocked. Clear it, clean the filter and restart. If the code comes back, the drain pump or the drain path needs a technician.

Why does my Thermador burner keep clicking?

Usually moisture or food around the burner after cleaning or a boil-over. Let it dry fully, clean the ports and reseat the burner cap. If it keeps clicking on a dry, clean burner, the spark switch or spark module needs checking.

How much does Thermador refrigerator repair cost?

It depends on the fault. A clogged defrost drain, a fan, an ice maker part and a sealed-system repair are very different jobs. After the diagnosis you get the price before any work starts, so you can decide with the full picture.

Should I repair or replace an older Thermador range?

In most cases repair. Igniters, sensors, elements, fans and boards are replaceable on Thermador ranges. Replacement makes sense mainly when a required part is no longer available for your model.
