Viking made its name with professional-style ranges for the home kitchen and today belongs to the Middleby Corporation. A Viking kitchen usually means a heavy gas range or cooktop, a built-in or freestanding refrigerator, and often an undercounter or outdoor refrigerator as well. These are appliances meant to be repaired rather than thrown away, provided the technician gets the right parts for the exact model and series.

Viking refrigerator repair is by far the most searched Viking topic, followed by stoves and ranges, dishwashers and cooktops, so this page starts with refrigeration. DP Appliance Repair works throughout Greenville and Spartanburg counties. The technician finds the fault, you get the price before any work starts, and the completed repair is covered by our 90-day parts-and-labor warranty.

Viking refrigerator repair: built-in, freestanding and undercounter

Viking built-in refrigerators are installed flush with the cabinets and breathe through a grille, which sits at the top or at the base depending on the model. The condenser behind that grille collects dust and pet hair, and a clogged condenser is one of the most common reasons a Viking starts running warm. Freestanding models have the same weak spot, just in a different place.

  • Both sections warm: clean the condenser behind the grille and check that the condenser fan runs. If it does and the unit is still warm, the compressor, its start components or the sealed system need a diagnosis.
  • Refrigerator warm, freezer cold: usually an evaporator fan or the defrost system. Heavy frost on the freezer’s back panel confirms it.
  • Water on the floor or under the crispers: often a blocked defrost drain or a door that no longer seals. Close the door on a sheet of paper; if it slides out easily, the gasket or hinge adjustment needs attention.
  • Ice maker slow or stopped: replace an overdue water filter, check the supply line, and look for a frozen fill tube.

Undercounter and outdoor Viking refrigerators work harder than indoor full-size units. Outdoor units in particular face South Carolina summer heat and humidity, so a unit that cools well in spring and struggles in July often has a dirty condenser or a fan that is tired. Keep the front grille clean and do not block it with stored items.

Viking range and stove repair

Viking gas ranges and stoves come in for three things: burners that will not light, burners that will not stay lit on low, and ovens that are slow to heat or will not heat at all. Surface burners use spark ignition. If a burner clicks but will not light, let it dry after cleaning, clean the ports and seat the burner cap and head squarely. Continuous clicking after the burner is lit, or clicking with every knob off, points to a spark switch or the spark module, often after a spill has run down around a knob.

Most Viking gas ovens use a glow-bar igniter. As that igniter weakens it still glows, but not hot enough to open the gas valve, so the oven takes a long time to light or never lights at all. That is a routine part replacement. A range oven that heats but bakes unevenly may have a convection fan problem or a temperature sensor out of calibration, which a separate oven thermometer will help show.

If you smell gas at any point, turn off the burners, do not operate switches, leave the house and call your gas utility. That comes before any appliance repair.

Viking cooktop, rangetop and wall oven repair

Viking gas cooktops and rangetops share the burner and ignition design of the ranges, so the same advice applies: dry, clean and properly seated burners solve many lighting complaints. A burner with a weak, uneven or yellow flame after cleaning needs a technician to check the burner, orifice and valve. Viking electric and induction cooktops come in for zones that will not heat or controls that stop responding, which usually points to an element, a switch or the control electronics.

Viking wall ovens come in for failures to heat, doors that stay locked after self-clean, and controls that lose their settings. Before calling, note any message on the display and whether the problem happens in bake, broil, convection or all modes. That detail narrows the diagnosis and helps the technician bring the right part.

Viking dishwasher repair

Viking dishwashers mostly come in for water standing in the tub, dishes that come out dirty, and leaks at the door. Start with the filter at the bottom of the tub and the drain hose under the sink, then make sure the spray arms turn freely and their holes are clear. A dishwasher that still will not drain needs its pump checked; one that leaks from the door with a clean gasket and a level cabinet needs a closer look at the door seal and the hinges.

Viking under warranty or out of warranty?

Viking handles warranty repairs through its own service channel, so if your appliance is still under Viking’s warranty, that is the first call to make. Once the warranty has ended, we repair Viking appliances at your home and order parts for the specific model and series. We serve homes in Greenville, Spartanburg, Greer, Simpsonville, Travelers Rest and the towns between them.

Viking repair: frequently asked questions

Do you repair Viking refrigerators?

Yes. We repair Viking built-in, freestanding, undercounter and outdoor refrigerators, including cooling problems, defrost faults, leaks and ice makers. Call (864) 547-6666 with the model number from the label inside the refrigerator.

Should I call Viking or you for a repair?

While the appliance is under Viking’s warranty, contact Viking so the repair is covered. After that, a technician from our team comes to your home, finds the fault and gives you the price before any repair begins.

My Viking oven takes a long time to light. What is wrong?

On Viking gas ovens this is usually a weak glow-bar igniter. It still glows but no longer gets hot enough to open the gas valve reliably. Replacing the igniter is a routine repair.

Why does my Viking stove keep clicking?

Most often moisture or a spill around a burner or knob. Let the burners dry, clean the ports and reseat the caps. If clicking continues with every knob off, a spark switch or the spark module needs checking.

How much does Viking appliance repair cost?

Cost depends on which Viking appliance it is, what failed and which part it needs. You hear the price after the diagnosis and before any work starts.

Do you offer same-day Viking repair?

Often, yes. Call before noon with the model and the symptom, and we will give you the earliest realistic time for your part of the Upstate.
