Accepting same-day calls

Greenville is a daily route for us. DP Appliance Repair is based in Boiling Springs, up I-85 in Spartanburg County, and our technicians run calls in Greenville every day of the week: condos downtown near Falls Park, bungalows off North Main, ranch houses in Gower Estates, and newer homes out toward Five Forks and Simpsonville. When you call, we tell you the earliest slot we can honestly hold, and in most cases that is the same day.

The visit works the same way everywhere we go. The technician looks at the appliance, finds the part that actually failed, and gives you the price before any work starts. If you go ahead with the repair, the diagnostic visit is credited toward it. If the honest answer is that the machine is not worth fixing, we say so.

Where we work in Greenville

We cover the whole city, ZIP codes 29601, 29605, 29607, 29609 and 29615, from the downtown blocks around Main Street, Falls Park on the Reedy and the Liberty Bridge out to the residential streets in every direction. The neighborhoods we see most are West Greenville, North Main, Overbrook, Gower Estates and Montebello. If you live along the Swamp Rabbit Trail anywhere between downtown and Travelers Rest, you are inside the area we drive every day.

Beyond the city limits we serve the rest of Greenville County: Greer, Taylors, Mauldin, Simpsonville, Five Forks, Wade Hampton, Berea and Travelers Rest. Each has its own page, linked below.

What Greenville homes bring us

Greenville's housing is a mix of early-1900s homes, mid-century neighborhoods built in the 1950s and 60s, and subdivisions and gated communities that went up in the last twenty years. Each era has its own appliance problems.

  • Older homes near North Main, Overbrook and West Greenville: the kitchens were laid out for a 30-inch range and a top-freezer refrigerator. A modern French-door or counter-depth fridge is often squeezed into an opening with no air gap, so the condenser runs hot and the compressor works harder than it should. Gas ranges in these houses are frequently decades old; igniters, valves and oven thermostats are the usual calls.
  • Mid-century ranch houses in Gower Estates and similar streets: original laundry hookups in a hallway closet or carport, a water line to the ice maker added years later with a saddle valve, and a dryer vent that runs farther than it should. Slow drying, water under the refrigerator and washers that will not drain are the pattern here.
  • Newer subdivisions and gated communities such as Montebello: builder-grade stainless packages from GE, Whirlpool, Frigidaire, Samsung and LG that are now five to ten years old. Ice makers, dishwasher drain pumps, control boards after a summer storm and refrigerators that stop cooling on one side are what we replace most.
  • Downtown condos and apartments around Falls Park and Main Street: stacked or compact washer-dryer units, built-in and panel-ready refrigerators, and access logistics. Tell us about parking, elevators and building hours when you book, and we plan the visit around them.

Two things every Greenville home has in common

Upstate summers are hot and humid, so a refrigerator, and especially a second freezer in a garage, works much harder from June through September. That is when most cooling failures show up, and a condenser coil that has not been cleaned in years is often part of the story.

Thunderstorm season brings power blips that take out control boards on otherwise healthy appliances. A whole-home surge protector at the panel costs a fraction of a replacement board on a modern refrigerator or range.

What we repair most often in Greenville

Every major home appliance, from any of the brands listed further down. These are the calls that fill a typical Greenville day; the detailed pages for each appliance in Greenville are linked at the end of this section.

  • Refrigerators and freezers: not cooling, freezer fine but fridge warm, ice maker stopped, water on the floor, loud fan or compressor. Fresh food above 40°F cannot wait, so these go first in the schedule.
  • Washers: not draining or spinning, leaking from the front or underneath, loud spin, error codes on front-loaders, lid locks on top-loaders.
  • Dryers: running but not heating, taking two cycles to dry, loud thumping, shutting off early. A long or clogged vent is behind many of these, and we check airflow on every dryer visit.
  • Dishwashers: not draining, not cleaning, not starting, leaking at the door, standing water left in the bottom of the tub.
  • Ovens, ranges and cooktops: oven not heating or not holding temperature, gas burner clicking but not lighting, electric element out, control panel errors, door not sealing.
  • Built-in and high-end kitchens: Sub-Zero, Wolf, Thermador, Viking, Miele, Bosch and similar. These need the right parts and a technician who has worked on them before.

What to check before you call

A few things are worth two minutes of your time before you book a visit. They fix a surprising share of problems, and if they do not, what you find helps us arrive with the right parts.

  • Power: is the breaker tripped, is the outlet live (test it with a lamp), did a GFCI outlet in the kitchen or garage trip after a storm?
  • Refrigerator warm: are the vents inside blocked by food, is the door closing fully, is the coil at the back or underneath coated in dust? Give it a day after a cleaning before judging.
  • Ice maker: is the arm or switch in the on position, is the water supply valve under the sink or behind the fridge open, is the filter overdue? If the fill tube is frozen, the ice maker needs thawing and usually a look at the valve; that is a repair, not a setting.
  • Washer not draining: check the drain hose for a kink and the filter or coin trap at the bottom front for socks, coins and hair ties.
  • Dryer not drying: clean the lint screen, then look at the outside vent cap while the dryer runs. Weak airflow means the duct, not the heater.
  • Dishwasher not draining: clear the filter at the bottom of the tub and run the garbage disposal, since the dishwasher often drains through it.

How the visit and the price work

People in Greenville ask us two things on the phone: how soon, and how much. How soon: we book same-day slots when the route allows and give you a realistic window rather than a promise we cannot keep. How much: the technician diagnoses the appliance in your home and gives you the full price, parts and labor, before any work starts. You decide then. If you go ahead, the diagnostic visit is credited toward the repair.

There is no price list on this page because the same symptom can be a small part or the compressor; a number only means something once someone has looked. Most repairs are finished in one visit when the part is on the truck. When a part has to be ordered, we tell you the expected date before you commit, so you can weigh repair against replacement with real information.

Repair or replace

A rule of thumb we share with Greenville customers: if the appliance is under eight to ten years old and the repair is well under half the cost of an equivalent new unit, repair almost always wins, especially for refrigerators, ranges and washers whose replacements are not noticeably better than what you have. A fifteen-year-old dryer with a failed motor, or a refrigerator with a leaking sealed system, is usually a replacement. We tell you which side of that line you are on before you spend anything beyond the diagnosis.

Appliance Repair FAQ — Greenville, SC

Do you offer same-day appliance repair in Greenville, SC?▼
Yes. We schedule same-day visits in Greenville when the route allows, and we tell you on the phone whether today is realistic or the first open slot is tomorrow. Refrigerators that have stopped cooling go to the front of the line. We are open daily from 8am to 9pm; call (864) 547-6666.
How much does appliance repair cost in Greenville, and how do I compare prices?▼
We do not quote a repair price over the phone, because the same symptom can have very different causes. The technician diagnoses the appliance in your home and gives you the complete price, parts and labor, before any work starts; if you go ahead, the diagnostic visit is credited toward the repair. When you compare companies, ask each the same three questions: is the diagnosis credited toward the repair, is the price fixed before work starts, and is the repair covered by a warranty.
What's included in a professional oven repair?▼
Checking the heating elements or the gas igniter and valve, the temperature sensor and thermostat, the control board, and the door seal and hinges; then replacing the failed part and testing the oven through a full heating cycle. For gas ovens we also check the ignition sequence and that the burner lights cleanly. The price you approve covers the diagnosis, the part and the labor to fit it.
Can I fix my ice maker myself?▼
Sometimes. Check that the ice maker is switched on, the water valve behind the refrigerator is open and the water filter is not overdue. If the fill tube is frozen or the ice maker cycles without water, the inlet valve or the ice maker module usually has to be replaced, and that is a repair visit. Forcing the mechanism by hand tends to break the module.
Is it better to repair or replace a broken refrigerator ice maker?▼
On a refrigerator that is otherwise cooling well and under ten years old, replacing the ice maker module or the water valve is almost always the better choice; a new refrigerator costs many times more than the part. If the refrigerator also has cooling problems or a sealed-system leak, we tell you so you can decide with the full picture.
Do you repair gas ranges and ovens in Greenville?▼
Yes, gas and electric: ranges, wall ovens, double ovens and cooktops. Common gas calls are a burner that clicks but will not light, an oven that takes too long to heat or will not hold temperature, and a control panel that stops responding. If you smell gas with the range off, turn it off at the valve, ventilate, and call your gas utility first; we come once the line is confirmed safe.
Which parts of Greenville do you cover?▼
All of the city, ZIP codes 29601, 29605, 29607, 29609 and 29615, including downtown, West Greenville, North Main, Overbrook, Gower Estates and Montebello, and the surrounding Greenville County towns: Greer, Taylors, Mauldin, Simpsonville, Five Forks, Travelers Rest, Berea and Wade Hampton.
Do you repair stacked or compact washer-dryer units in downtown condos?▼
Yes. Stacked laundry centers and compact front-loaders are common in condos around Falls Park and Main Street, and we service them. Let us know about parking, elevator access and building hours when you book so the technician can plan the visit.
Do you work on high-end brands such as Sub-Zero, Wolf and Thermador?▼
Yes. We service Sub-Zero, Wolf, Cove, Viking, Thermador, Miele, Gaggenau and Fisher & Paykel alongside the mainstream brands, and we bring the brand-specific parts these appliances need.
